Colleen Scott is employed as the Advocacy Specialist at the New York State Office for the Aging with a focus on ensuring equal access to traditionally underserved and marginalized populations. In this role, she is responsible for provision of technical assistance and monitoring of the state’s 59 Area Agencies on Aging regarding their efforts to reach and serve culturally, geographically, racially, and linguistically diverse older New Yorkers and caregivers, including those in greatest economic need. Ms. Scott also serves as the agency’s Language Access Coordinator developing and implementing resources to provide interpretation and translation services to individuals for whom English is not their first language. She is passionate about governmental programs providing equal access to all individuals and has worked on various projects to increase health equity, develop resources for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers, and increase NYSOFAs overall engagement with diverse populations. Ms. Scott’s previous employment experience includes two decades of advocacy and service provision for various populations including individuals with disabilities, at risk youth, and older adults.
